Fantastic video. I love JR's idea of contrasting images of the older generation with walls that show the history of the place. It's a great way to involve people who don't typically participate in street art and to start a conversation about history. In today's mile-a-minute society, I think it's important to remember that many people began their lives in a world dramatically different from the one we live in today.

Thomas Lamadieu's SkyArt
I love the whimsy and playful imagination of the drawings in Thomas Lamadieu's SkyArt series.
He describes the intent of the project on his website: "My artistic approach is intended to show a different perception of urban architecture and the environment that surrounds us daily…To be able to invent a limitless imagination…" His work brings to life the idea that the sky is the limit.

Brilliant advice from the always on point Sagmeister. I must see this exhibition at the Jewish Museum. Guess I'll have to make it to NYC before it closes in August.

Well edited short survey about the Brazilian twins Os Gemeos. Love their work and their attitude.
Trusto Corp Bombs a Theme Park for Mass Appeal
Definitely into this. I think that song might be stuck in my head all day. My only critique, could we find something instead of the skull? I'm over skulls. I was over it before it started and it's been going on a long time now.

Humans since 1982
I'm really into this installation by Stockholm based firm Humans since 1982. The piece is made up of 288 analogue clocks which create shifting monochrome patterns, letters and numbers.

Street Art in Delhi
I love this video of this group mural project in Delhi, India. I think the next few years are going to be a really exciting time for the growth of street art in India. While I was travelling I saw some amazing work, but it seemed to me that many Indian painters were just copying western street style; this project excites me because these artists are starting to create a uniquely Indian painterly language.

Aakash Nihalani, Portal
Wish I could make it to Portal, Nihalani's first solo show at Jonathan Levine Gallery. The show will be on view from January 12 - February 9.
Nihalani’s bold, flat shapes continue to evolve into complex multi-dimensional patterns, often producing intricate optical illusions that challenge the viewer’s relationship with their surrounding environment. The imagery appears to extend or recede from the surface of the picture plane through the artist’s carefully developed variations on color theory and architectural elements with influences of Op art and Mathematical perspectives.
The artist enjoys the interactive effect of his work in the gallery setting as well as on the street. His exhibitions often include site-specific installations created with tape, similar to his public interventions, which complement his paintings and freestanding sculptures. The accessible quality of Nihalani’s imagery connects with a wide audience, much like the adhesive nature of his original medium.
In Nihalani’s words, “I try to create a new visual space within the physical confines of any piece I work on, through the illusion of three-dimensional imagery contained on a two-dimensional plane. When looking at the work—orientation shifts, shapes merge, direction inverts, foreground becomes background and vice versa. In observing the differences in how we process this information, one becomes aware of how subjective perception can be and how we choose to view reality, individually.”

Jim Power, Mosaic Man
This video made me homesick for my old neighbourhood. Some of my favourite Mosaic Man pieces are on 3rd St. a block away from where I used to live. The diversity of colours, textures, shapes and patterns in each intricate work is captivating. I also love the skeleton piece on St. Marks by that tattoo parlour. Jim always smiled back when I passed him on the street; it was a bright moment each time I saw him. Enjoy! Thanks Etsy.
